Improving my content creation system
With everything going on, I've felt that I've been neglecting my Instagram posts - I needed to improve my content creation system. So this week I experimented with three new ways of creating Instagram content:
1) Switch to Figma. Before this week, I used Canva to make posts because I wanted to make posts quickly and easily. Initially, I thought that because it's less powerful I'd be able to churn out posts quicker, but I found that I just got frustrated with not being able to design something exactly as I want to. Now that I switched over to Figma I can finally do the thing where you have an image continue from one slide to the next - nice.
2) Generating several posts from a self-development book. I decided to make several posts based on the same book "15 Invaluable Laws of Growth". I've been reading a lot of books that have helped me personally. They're not design books, but they've contributed directly to my performance, so I have started to pivot towards making content about whatever helps me in my career.
3) Batching content creation. I tried batching the creation of 4 posts in several sessions. In the first session, I created the content for 4 posts. In the second, I create the design for them. In the third, I created the description and scheduled them. I think it saved me time, but it was also more enjoyable because it felt like I got more done compared to if I had had sessions focusing on one post at a time.
I have yet to decide how often I'll create content - maybe every other week, and spread the posts out so you get two posts every week. So hope you enjoy it. Let me know your thoughts!
My favorite things this week
Article: This article about Product/Market fit is one of the most comprehensive I’ve seen on the topic. Also, surprised I haven’t seen the Lean Canvas before.
