Hanging out on a virtual sofa was the highlight of my week
This week's highlight, my favorite learnings, the new upload
Hello reader!
Welcome to v2.0 of this newsletter. I'll experiment with writing about this week’s highlight, what I consumed, and what I uploaded.
Weekly Highlight
This week I had the weirdest experience using something called Gather. It’s kinda like a mix between Habbo Hotel and ClubHouse. Basically, you can walk around in a virtual world and video chat with the people near to you. H&M Grup Business Tech held their first Tech Conference, and Gather was used as a place for Q&A with the speakers and as a way to mingle.
At first, I wasn’t into the idea - it’s so weird. But at one point I had the a-ha moment. When you have the spatial dimension to play with, you can join and leave conversations naturally - you just walk up to a person like in real life. At one point I was hanging out at the sofas with two designers and then I saw two colleagues from the Innovation area walk past and I ran over to them and had them join us in the couch - how crazy isn’t that?!
This is not sponsored, but if you think what I described sounds interesting, I suggest you give it a try!

We don't fail to accomplish things because we say we won't do it, we fail because we say we will do it tomorrow.

Choice Overload (Happiness Lab)
We believe more freedom is better so more choices should be better too - but it just leads to analysis paralysis.
Make ‘Em Laugh (Happiness Lab)
In the past, communication disappeared immediately and was only with people you knew well. Today, through writing and the internet, communication persists, and you are exposed to people you don't know. This can have a negative effect on your emotions.

Notes and thoughts on this video:
I recorded this the same day as my Fear Setting video, I just put on a shirt lol
This time, the script only contained short bullet points. So much easier and I think it felt a lot more natural.
I feel like I’m speaking so slow in this - dang.
I have to remember to take a picture so I can get a good picture for the thumbnail - oop
